Bologna Book Fair

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go to Bologna in my third year of uni, but I think this trip made up for it!

It was actually fantastic to go as a more professional illustrator and show industry people a more well-rounded portfolio. I even bumped into some of my best uni mates again which was so nice!

The trip has made me even more excited and motivated about what I’m doing, and I’m feeling increasingly confident in my visual language.

Vaulty Towers Menu

This was a fun little project working on the Vaulty Towers Dim Sum menu. They are a pub in waterloo that I highly recommend going to!

Arena Illustration

So excited to now be represented by Arena Illustration! They have been an absolute dream agent to have for a while now, and I am a massive fangirl of some of the other artists they represent. Seeing my work next to one of my greatest inspirations is so motivating. It’s amazing to have this kind of validation, I am excited about the future!

V&A Awards

It was such an honor to be nominated for a V&A illustration award. I didn’t win anything, but just being invited was such an achievement for me, and I got to have a good chat with my amazing tutors!

Graduation

It’s been a whole year, but I finally had my proper graduation ceremony! I got a chocolate coin from Dawn French and had lots of great catch-ups with my old buddies, best day ever.

Peter Pan’s Lab

I’ve been working on some typography for ‘The Vaults’ new show. It’s great to have the opportunity to push myself with digital modeling. This is the first time i’ve tried to add some texture to make the letters look like old stone, or oxidised metal.

V&A Short-list

Super excited that my project ‘The Chip Eaters of Falmouth’ has been short-listed for a V&A illustration award!!

I didn’t realize how much I would love reportage, and having this recognition has given me such an incentive to carry on documenting the little things in life!

Stranger Sings!

My latest creation for the show ‘Stranger Sings!’. A parody musical that has previously been on over in New York but has now come to London. This is the first big commission I have done entirely with digital sculpting and no hand-modeling! Here’s the link to go check it out:

Dulux Advertisement

This project was very exciting for me as it is the first time someone has found me through my online portfolio.

Gabs and Alex are creatives at Ogilvy. Their idea was a campaign for Dulux: Paint the Future. I was asked to create 3 images in my 3D modeled style to showcase their idea. Their website is: https://www.gabzandalex.com/dulux

I had great fun on these little sets, It was interesting to work more with the sets themselves, rather than with characters for a change.

D&AD Academy

I was accepted onto the D&AD New Blood Academy this year! For the past couple of weeks I have attended seminars and worked on an advertising campaign challenge for HSBC. It has been very insightful and interesting to experience more of the world of branding and advertising.

Mulan Rouge

My first proper commission from the Vaults just went up on their website! It’s so strange to see my artwork actually being used! This was a really tough project, I started working on it before I had even handed in my final university course work which made it a little stressful.

There were a lot of different techniques I experimented with, It took a long time to get it just right, but seeing it up now I’m really proud! I think it looks great on their site!

So pleased that my portfolio has been picked to be featured in the D&AD New Blood festival!

It’s really nice to have my work recognized in this way, and was so exciting to see hamlet up on their website.

Graduation

Also not what I expected my graduation to look like! (proper ceremony postponed to 2022)

But I’m very chuffed to now say I have a First-class degree in Illustration.

Degree Show

Not quite what I was expecting my degree show to look like… But I do love seeing my froggy prince 10ft up in the air on the library wall!

Building Barry - Part 4

This final video shows a snippet of the editing process on the photograph. I find this part of creating my images the most relaxing. I’ve been working on my typography recently so I really like any excuse to add that to my images. In the past, Ben and Jerry’s have used the slogan ‘If it’s melted, it’s ruined’ alongside the Baked Alaska ice cream. I think this is so clever and as much as this project was a complete self-indulgent excuse to play around with ice cream, this slogan gives a really important message about climate change.

If you haven’t already, please go check out the final image that’s up on my portfolio page!

Building Barry - Part 3

This is a quick look at the set construction. Sorry about it being all so lightning fast, I’ve only just figured out you can edit the length of the clips so they don’t have to be so short!

At the very start, you can see me building the paper icebergs to go in the background, for the ones up the front I used real extra-large (very sticky) marshmallows.

My housemate let me borrow her stunning camera for this particular shoot and I think the pictures came out dreamy!

Building Barry - Part 2

This video is the second part of building my polar bear, including making his sunglasses using my UV gel nail varnish! a technique I’ve not tried before but I think turned out quite well.

Building Barry - Part 1

This video is the very first TikTok I ever made! it’s showing the process of me modeling and painting Barry the Polar Bear for my speculative advertisement for Ben and Jerry’s Baked Alaska ice cream. - enjoy!
